What's wrong with the education system? Plus running masterminds, podcast updates and more
Private behind-the-scenes video included in this week's edition 📽
Thanks for putting up with my continual experimentation with this newsletter format! As has been the case for the past 27 years of life, I have little clue what I’m doing – I keep improvising and make it up as I go along. I have around 73 years to go on this process.
By the time I reach the golden age of 100, I think I will have finally figured things out and matured into a responsible adult. Until then 🥂
🦜Let’s talk a bit about the podcast & what’s wrong with education
I’m very pumped to have the podcast up and running again! Because there are so many daily episodes, I figured a good use of the Doorman Newsletter here is to consolidate some takeaways.
Below you’ll find a link to every episode from Season 2 so far (circa 20 of them) ⬇
These focus on the premise behind the education system from a zoomed-out, helicopter view.
Reason it’s important: Each of us is a person trying to move toward things, and move things along. We also care about the people around us — parents, children, friends. We’ve all been shaped by this cookie-cutter model of education, and it has informed how we look at ourselves and those around us.
🧠🗯 My contention is, it’s not the way we should look at…
… the world
… one another
… ourselves.
🖐My Top 5 Takeaways from these episodes
This is where hundreds of years of thinkers and educators distilled through experience and books, plus my thoughts and filters, which have been refined into hundreds of podcast episodes, now get refined into five single dot points. Here we go:
Who the hell is the winner of the current system? I can’t figure it out, but I may just be naive or uninformed. I remain open to education on this (pun intended).
If you put water in a tube, it won’t leave the tube. But, if you put it in the ocean it won’t discriminate or stay contained → it will flow everywhere, touch every continent. I think interest works the same way — what you’re interested in flows from thing to thing once you become deeply curious, and this drives creativity.
90% of the ‘education’ work to be done is psychological/self-awareness based. Things fall into place after this.
I want to die like Albert Einstein did.
Loving the process is the lowest-risk thing we can do in life, not pining for achievement. Process procures achievement. The learning is in the process, but so too is the real reward.
Any thoughts on this?
🎁 Bonus goody — behind-the-scenes in Constant Student Masterminds
See my opening comment about never knowing much at all about what I’m doing. Case-in-point, we continue to try things in Constant Student. This has been the most successful thing to date, and was promised in today’s episode.
It’s a small weekly gathering run between Liam Hounsell, James Fricker and myself, who are all approaching our podcasting projects with the same intensity and drive.
This group has formed around accountability and strategic support — we recorded one of our sessions as a demo of this format. You can hear more about the context in the episode released today.

Hey Mate,
Brilliant one - I found this one entertaining and educational - Beginning was a ripper. Also the 90% phycological is a very interesting area to jump into :)... Next week I would be curious to see how someone goes from no mastermind - to engaged and active one within 2 weeks ? ;)
